INVASIVES REMOVAL

WRA volunteers gather annually in the summer under volunteer coordinator Mary and John Taylor to remove invasives starting from the top of the river where tamarisk and Russian olive occur and working down river. The WRA has also released over 100,000 tamarisk and leafy spurge beetles, which are highly effective but very sensitive to pesticides.

This project is done annually by WRA volunteers every summer

River Clean-up

In May 2018, WRA organized and held a river clean-up, engaging local Mayor Halandras and members the community to begin cleaning up the river, starting in the town of Meeker.

This project is done annually by WRA volunteers every spring
